Soiernhaus Circuit

Soiernhaus-Runde is a two-day loop in the Karwendel, specifically in its German foothills, beginning and ending in Krün. Unlike the demanding ridge traverses, this is an easy route, the ideal choice if you want to experience an alpine setting without exposed sections and without needing climbing gear. Total loop distance is 25 kilometers, split over two days with one night at the hut.

The terrain matches the Karwendel foothills: the path crosses the Soierngruppe, an area known for its impressive yet accessible landscape. The main draw of day one is the two alpine lakes lying directly below Soiernhaus, reached either from Wallgau or directly from Krün via the so-called Lakaiensteig. This ascent requires neither via ferrata equipment nor specialized mountaineering experience, the route is rated easy.

Day two continues around Soiernsee toward the summit of Schöttelkarspitze and back down to Wallgau, completing the loop back to the start at Krün. This section offers fine views over the alpine lakes and surrounding Karwendel ridges, a mix of lakeside walking and mountain panoramas.

The route suits tourists wanting to experience a multi-day trek with a night at an alpine hut but without venturing into technically demanding alpine crossings. Given its easy rating and lack of via ferrata, the loop is also well-suited for less experienced mountain walkers or families with older children capable of a two-day hiking trip with a backpack.

Accommodation at Soiernhaus must be reserved in advance through the official Alpenverein booking system, as with most alpine huts in the region. We recommend booking well ahead, as hut capacity during season is limited. Current opening dates and availability can always be found directly in the hut's reservation system.
